Materials: You will need white unlined paper, a soft lead pencil, a ruler, and coloring materials such as crayons, colored pencils, or markers.

Assignment 1. Creating a book cover design:

Every book cover is designed with the title near the top, an illustration in the center, along with the author's and publisher's name near the bottom area. It will also include the company's logo and the title of the story. A good cover is easy to read and the illustration will give some reason to read the book.

STEP ONE: Look at the cover below and imagine what the story may be about.

STEP TWO: Now you are to create your own cover by naming your book based on your name and presenting some aspect of your life, ( it can be imaginary) as the concept in the title and illustration. Be sure to color your image with markers, crayons, or colored pencils.

STEP THREE: Write a brief paragraph that explains the cover's meaning. What does it communicate? Who is the audience? How should it be interpreted? Is it fiction or non-fiction?

Assignment 2. Creating an autobiographical comic strip:

Step1: Draw three equal sized frames on your paper similar to the ones below.
