
STUDENT ACTIVITY PAGE 2:
Materials: You will need white unlined paper, a soft lead pencil, and coloring materials such as crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
Assignment 1: Creating an Abstract Geometric design: Every drawing or image can be reduced to simple geometric shapes. Look at the image below and name the basic shapes that were used to create it. Now you are to create your own image by combining various geometric shapes in a different arrangement. Be sure to color your image with markers, crayons, or colored pencils. The end result will be an unique abstract geometric design.

Assignment 2. Creating a three panel cartoon strip. Step 1: Draw three equal sized frames on your paper similar to the ones below. Step 2: Think of a story, joke or riddle that you can divide into a three step sequence. Step 3: Divide your concept into three logical steps. Step 4: Draw three illustrations that communicate the concept in the same sequential order. Step 5: Add the words, text, talking balloons, title, sound effects, thought bubbles, or narration boxes as needed to complete your cartoon strip.
