Let's Make a Field Trip!
In this activity, you will have students create an online field trip for the class. They must create a written guide and focus for the field trip.
You may use resources provided for Activities 1-3, or select sites of your own.
Things to Consider as you Plan:
- How do I want my students work--individually, in partners, or small group?
Does the physical set-up of your classroom or computer lab lend itself to one of these more efficiently? What is the personality of your class?
- How will the content be divided?
How expensive is each of the webmuseums you have chosen? Will you have students select a museum, and create a general field trip that covers the major works they find online? Will you choose specific movements on which they should focus for each museum?
- How do I want students to demonstrate understanding
of the artist's work and the movement?
How will the content be divided among the members of the class/groups? How many examples of an artist's should they find? What is the final product--cut and paste images into a Word document and convert to a pdf for presentation, or create bookmarks that they can reference during their presentation? Will students provide an overview of the museum and the significant works in their collections?
- Will the students provide a written guide for the class as they go through the tour??
Will there be open-ended questions for the class to answer? Will the class be able to critique each field trip?
Be sure students cite their sources for their presentations. See EasyBib for a free MLA composer, or How to Write A Bibliography for tips.
After considering the above items and checking out the Resources in the module, plan your lesson, and teach it to your students.
Then complete the Culminating Activity Evaluation.
After the Evaluation is complete, please complete the Module Feedback link to comment on this Curriculum Web as a whole.
