Student involvement

approach using an object that is very familiar across the
curriculum. The curriculum is designed for middle grade elementary
students, but can be adapted for any grade level.
The

You can use the lemon because of its properties. it is small
and can be stored without any special handling. The lemon
can be used for Math to teach fractions, ratios and porportions.
You can use lemons as Math manipulatives in primary grades
and for special needs students that need concretes. You can
use the lemon for your currrency lessons about the price of
lemonade which is a componenet of this curriculum. The lemon
can be used to make puppets for socio-dramas to bring a story
to life. The lemon can be used in science for it acid properties
to teach about acids and alkaline. It can be used to make
a household cleaner for your class room clean- ups.
The
lemon can be used to teach diversity and responsibility which
is the purpose of my Lemon Project. You can use the lemon
across the curriculum as a compact hands-on teaching aid which
is concrete and convenient. Please e-mail
me and let me know ideas that you have come up with to
use the lemon in your curriculum. I have included some activities
for you. Pucker up and get ready for a very sour curriculum.
