Activity Two
In the Lesson One Assessment, you created your own PowerPoint presentation for a lesson you teach. In this assessment, you will begin to respond to the ideas and concepts presented in the articles you had to read for Lesson Two.
It may be beneficial to respond to at least one article that is pro-PowerPoint in the classroom, as well as one that is con-PowerPoint in the classroom. Each set of sides make extremely valid points, thus it is helpful to get a balanced reference point.
Questions for thought:
1) List five reasons why the authors are for PowerPoint in the classroom.
2) List five reasons why the authors are not for PowerPoint in the classroom.
3) Based on what you have read, select a stance. Why have you chosen this particular stance?
4) What educationally based rationales are the authors using? Are any major cognition experts cited?
Begin to think about the application of some of these arguments into your PowerPoint. How do some of the articles specifically address good design within effective presentations using electronic media? It would be beneficial to look especially at the con-PowerPoint articles. They too, raise valid points regarding presentation design.
