The region known as the southeast is made up of the following states:
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This region is the home
of several Native American
Indian tribes, the Creek, Cherokee, and Shawnee who saw the first
influx
of European explorers. This region also is home to the first African
American
free community during times when Blacks were in slavery. This region is
known
for its lush green trees, Marde Gras, and the civil war.
