The following states make up what is known as the
midwestern region:
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio,
Wisconsin, and Tennessee. Significant historical occurrences in these
states include: The opening, of the Erie Canal in 1825, another state
turned it's automobile factories into making jeeps,
tanks, and airplanes and ended a depression, still another state can
boast having held the first Olympic in 1904. While in another state a
great civil rights leader was assassinated and the largest earthquake
in American history happened in 1811.
