The reason for this curriculum web is that assessment
has always been a controversial topic in the educational field. Teachers
often wonder: "Am I assessing correctly?" , "What am I assessing?",
"Why Assess?". After reviewing and applying some of the activities in this
web, teachers will think more critically when assessing students. Assessment
is important because it helps teachers to interpret information from
students
work, decipher that information, and make a final decision on how to
assess
that child based on the work that he or she does in class. The
informaton use in this curriculum web is based on information and
research from the adult learning strategies, Illinois Learning Standards, and NETS-T.

Plan for Assessment and
Evaluation
When I began this project the goal was for me to research better ways of assessing our students using portfolios. My fellow colleagues gave me feedback and information on what would help them when assessing our students in the Title I program. This curriculum web was developed with all Title I teachers in mind. I am hoping that this web will help teachers to think about how we can keep data on our students' progress using portfolios. The PowerPoint presentation, the rubric reply form, and the portfolio checklist will be used as an assessment and evaluation tool. All information that is forward to e-mail will be used on the website for teachers to share and use in their classrooms for the school year.
The resources listed below were used for the purpose of preparing this curriculmn web.
