After hearing the story of “Hana's Suitcase,” groups of students will participate in one of two quests: Quest 1: Hana Brady Create a timeline, draw/animate pictures and write poems about the people and events mentioned in the book, “Hana's Suitcase.” You will incorporate these into a Flash narrative or PowerPoint presentation to memorialize Hana, Upon completion of the quest, the class will compose an email or letter to Hana's brother, George, and to Fumiko Ishioka, director of the Tokyo Holocaust Center to share feelings and thoughts about each of their contributions. The class will also offer a copy of Flash/PowerPoint presentation(s) and invite each of them to visit our school. Quest 2: Terezin Concentation Camp After researching the history of the Terezin Concentration Camp and looking at art work, poetry, and prose created by the children, you will identify, then expand upon the “lifelines” created by the children during captivity. After identifying and expanding upon those lifelines, you will create a Flash narrative or PowerPoint presentation to memorialize the children.
