Introduction

You and your friends decide to visit a nearby community park playlot.  When you get there, you find all kinds of waste material thrown on the grounds.  "Man!" you think. "What can we to make this a good place to play?"

Your assignment is to find ways to rid your community of waste by recycling.

The Task

"Recycling in an important part of our everyday lives.  Recycling helps save our natural resources.  Many people don't recycle.  However, many do.  There are many things that you can recycle.  You can recycle just about anything".

Your task is to work in a group  to complete activities that will help you learn  more about recyling.  Your group will design an area for recycling that can be used in a home, lunchroom, or community, and present your design to the class . Your group will use activities to write a convincing letter persuading the community to recycle. This letter will be displayed in an area for all to see.
Now let's get to it and do it!

The Process

1.  Your teacher will introduce the lesson in the Computer Lab.  Each student will have their own computer to work from.  You will follow the directions given to you by the teacher.  Listen carefully.

2.   Your teacher will place you in a group of four. Together you will complete the activities.  Each person will keep a folder of their work.

3.    Your group will work together to brainstorm things that are thrown away in garbage containers, parks, streets, playlots and vacant lots.
You will use a web map to write in your answers. Your teacher will review using the cluster map with class.
