Implementation Plan:
How will I use the curriculum web: Chem Corner?
In the beginning of school year, my students will be able to view the chem corner. The students and parents have initial assignment to provide the quote of the day, and element using email one week in advance to facilitate the posting update. On the first week of the semester, students can access the syllabus; view some sample of the completed chemistry projects.
The unit "Water Analysis" is an independent unit after the students has covered the basic elements, the laboratory safety, and introduction to what is chemistry and general use in research. Then this independent unit will be the extension of student understanding of elements around them and conduct a laboratory experiment of the popular product: bottled water.
Normally, without the internet access, students will be using the library as resource, but school library is not the best option for after school search, public library would be ideal using their internet website, and home computers. The difference, the of textbook resource and internet, well you data is delivered when you want it and when ever you need it. The global resources make the Internet unique in terms of research field and entertainment.
In the classroom, the students will be able to use their navigational skills, click and click but with a purpose. On the other hand, other would be learning more about using other software while learning the concept. Using power point, excel, and brochure creator software (homepage) will be a skill to learn aside from chemistry alone.
Finally, the unit will end with student-completed
projects and a field trip to Chicago Water Treatment Plant, which will be an
additional page to Chem Corner Home.
