The Title Bar

The Title Bar let's you know what program you are working in. If you click the "-" you will minimize the program or move the screen to the task bar at the bottom of the screen. The "X" closes the program and will allow you to "Restore Down" or make the screen smaller but still visible. This is very useful if you are wanting to look at more than one screen at a time. To make the screen fill the monitor again, click the maximize icon.

The Menu Bar

The Formatting Toolbar

These are both usually beneath the Menu Bar and have icons or shortcuts that are also found on the Menus. See the Glossary for explanations of all the elements found in each menu. Also if you hold your cursor over the icon, its name will appear. If this feature is not activated on you computer, go to the "Tools" Menu, then to "Customize", then to "Options" and check the "Show ScreenTips on toolbars." You will then be able to see each icons name.
