Purpose of the class

To give students the opportunity to improve their keyboarding skills and begin to learn to use word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and the Internet effectively. Microsoft Office is use: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Course Content:

  1. Custom Typing (main program, can also be accessed from home at www.customtyping.com

  2. Type to Learn

  3. Projects to practice in Microsoft Office

  4. Typing games

Supplies Needed:

  1. Assignment book for teacher’s email, Edline, and Moodle addresses

  2. Pencil/Pen

  3. Notebook – optional can take notes on computer also

Classroom Procedures:

  1. Come in, sit down at assigned computer, and log on immediately.

  2. Continue project from yesterday’s class.

  3. Use cup to ask questions.

  4. If helping a student, point or tell where to find answer, never take other student’s mouse.

  5. Log out and return to Novell screen at end of class period.

  6. Push chairs in at end of class.

  7. No food, drinks, or gum allowed.

  8. E-mail projects to me from home (for any class if unable to print at home. Then see teacher before school to retrieve project and to print): jdarnaue@cusd200.org ,

  1. Only when using Custom Typing or researching a project.

  2. NOT after projects completed
