Special Guests: The primary building will be hosting some very special guests this week. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Linting of the Linting Foundation (our donors of ST Math (The Mind Institute Math). ST Math is the math program that is used in the primary computer lab. Mr. and Mrs. Linting were here Monday, April 23, 2007.

• Teacher for a Day: On Tuesday, May 6th, the 2nd Annual Teacher for a Day event will take place. Teacher for a Day is joint venture between the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union to give business and community members an opportunity to gain a better understanding of and deeper appreciation for the work Chicago Public Schools’ teachers provide each school day. Teachers interested in participating in this event are encouraged to see Mrs. Fox-Crump for an application ASAP. All applications must be placed in the mail run no later than Wednesday of this week.

* April 17 is report-card pickup day for elementary school students.

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to stop by their children’s schools and talk to their teachers. In addition, there are a few other events surrounding report-card pickup that we’d like you to be aware of.

Elections for Local School Council representatives will be held in high schools on the 16th and in elementary schools on the 17th. For all schools, we’re also encouraging parents to fill out a survey about their involvement and satisfaction with the school. Results will be available at the fall report-card pickup.

Parents of all eighth-graders can sign up for Freshman Connection, an academic and recreational program, at no cost to students, held at the students’ destination high schools.

Parents and guardians: there’s a lot going on in our schools. We’d love to have you stop by, take a look and get involved.

Our Morning Mantra!!!

I can do anything
I set my mind to.
I can make dreams happen
By the things that I do.
Thinking positively no matter what
Today and Everyday
For it’s all in how I look at things
And what’s put into play.

Alfred D. Kohn is a learning zone where each student is destined for greatness!
