Titles and Credits

The 'Titles or credits' option allows you to add text to your movie. You
may want to add a title, the author (you), or the date you made the
movie. You may want to insert comments before pictures or video in the
movie, and you may want to put credits at the end.

To insert at title, click on the first graphic in your timeline. Click 'Make titles or credits' in the Edit Movie section of the Movie Tasks column. Notice the choices you have. You can insert a title at the beginning, before or after any clip, on a clip, and/or at the end of the movie as credits.

Start by selecting 'title at the beginning.' Notice you have two text boxes. The top box is for the main title, the bottom for the subtitle.

Type a title in the top box - perhaps 'Kittens'. In the bottom box, type 'by (your name).' Notice that as you type, the title appears in the small player on the right side of the screen. You can change the effects by clicking 'change the title animation.' You will see that the animations are in three categories: 'Titles, one line,' 'Titles, two lines,' and 'Credits.' Since your title has two lines, you should choose that category. If you choose 'one line', only the first line of your title will appear. Try some out; there are many interesting ones. You can also click on 'change the text font and color' to change the appearance of the title. You can change the font, size, style, color, and background color. When you are satisfied, click on 'Done, add title to movie'. To add a title in the middle of the movie, click on a graphic and click 'Make titles or credits' again.

Make sure your titles are readable. Bizarre fonts and poor contrast can make a title difficult to read. Again, be sure that your animation adds interest to the show without distracting from it. Any animation used in excess can detract from a movie.

Remember to save!
