Booker T. Washington was an important black man. This important man was born on April 5, 1855 in Virginia . As a child, he had to tote schoolbooks for white children. This was not right. It wasn’t right because first, he wasn’t allowed to attend the same school as white children. Secondly, he was treated lower than the white kids were. He had to carry their books. Mr. Washington didn’t even have books of his own to carry.
As an older adult Mr. Washington, overcame many obstacles. A major problem that he faced was not being able to read. He taught himself how to read the white kids books. He became a leader of a college. He was a teacher. Also, he was someone to look up to. Mr. Washington taught many black children. He inspired them to be more than what was expected of them.
I learned that Booker T. Washington not only helped himself but others as well.
