My family

I have a very supportive husband and four children, three are in high school and one in the middle school, in addition to about 150 high school students each year that become mine for 210 days.
I live 15 miles away from Brooks College Prep, but came from 18,000 miles away, from a country with 7,100 islands, Philippines that was 18 years ago.

My School

Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep, Brooks College Prep Academy, Southside College Prep, and Brooks High School are all the same school located at 250 E. 111th St. Chicago, IL. 60628. It used to be Mendeleeve, Saint Martin the Forest. For now, it is one of the Chicago's Selective Enrollment High School, Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy, Area 24, with approximately 820 students.

My Philosophy

Every individual has potential to learn and grow but it needs a challenging environment and direction from a person who understand humanity- its nature and capacity.

My career

I used to work in an engineering construction firm before I became a mother and teacher. It was not easy to change career, but that is what education can do. Education has been my guiding path in seeking and exploring various options that were available to reach my goal to have a family and a career at the same time. Educational field is one of the area in the professional fields that I strongly believe that it strengthen the bonds between family and community.

My belief as a teacher

Being a teacher is rewarding career, but at the same time it's challenging. Patience, understanding, and creativeness in addition to content mastery are necessary. Teaching is an art, not an exact science. Multicultural understanding can lessen some ups and downs. However, just the notion of being a participant in molding and shaping the heart and mind of our future generation is priceless.
